This new intensive session will be hosted at the Cristobal Balenciaga Museum in Getaria, Spain - with final projects to be exhibited at the end of the session in the Museum.
This Arts of Fashion Foundation 4-week intensive fashion program is an excellent opportunity and unique frame for excellence to enhance fashion students' creative identity with consistent personal research. About
History
The MasterClass-Series began with the idea to teach the different arts of fashion and is one of the most successful and growing programs offered by the Arts of Fashion Foundation.
The Symposium MasterClass-Series launched in 2005 with only one class, and this program has at some point expanded up to 4 classes per year with a maximum of 60 students to ensure a positive dynamic work environment and a substantial network.
Each year, we partner with the fashion program of a different university to host the MasterClass-Series. The classes are taught in english over a period of 5 full days by a team of 2 emerging designers per class for 15 selected fashion students who come from around the world.
Due to the success of the Symposium MasterClass, Summer and Winter MasterClass Programs have been launched where students travel to Paris to spend 4 weeks studying under these cutting-edge designers at the Museum of Les Arts Decoratifs (MAD) at the Louvre.
Collaborations with prestigious Parisian Haute Couture craftsmanship houses including Maison Lesage, Maison Lemarie, Lognon, part of les Metiers d’Art Chanel, have been developped.
The Masterclass is meant to:
• Develop creativity by exposing students to new techniques, craft and different design approaches.
• Give participants the opportunity to learn from first-hand experience with cutting-edge designers.
• Allow students the opportunity to create a unique work for their graduating portfolios.
• Initiate and encourage collaboration between professional designers and students.
• Allow students to meet and network with other fashion- driven students from different parts of the world.
• Provide the opportunity for students to exhibit and present their work at a professional runway show.
